Homecoming!
Hopefully many of our previous Falcons will fly home for
this great weekend. Those who are here
continue to shine with spirit and enthusiasm.
The games, rallies, parade, and dance are all part of a traditional
celebration.
What makes our homecoming special is that every school at
the Tracy Learning Center is a part of the events. They all have a week of spirit and they all
get the experience of building a float.
The theme this year is a great one for every age level. I know time goes into making a float and lots
of work goes into organizing a parade, but I think it is worth it.
As we parade down the street Friday afternoon, we all show
our pride and enthusiasm for all the wonderful things that have happened, are
happening and will happen for our students at the Tracy Learning Center. Thank you for believing in us and being a
part of our success.

Vehicle Drop Off
I was just approached by our traffic guard who was very
upset and shaken up. She said late parents continue to pull over on Holly and
drop off their kids risking serious injuries to these students. She was very
upset especially due to the recent carline accident where a student was just
killed because a parent dropped her child off in this same unsafe manner in
Byron, Ca. Please slow down and take an extra moment to follow carline rules
and keep your children safe!

Gold PCS
Golden Highlights:
Homecoming
was a huge success! The Bug's Life float turned out wonderful! Each class enjoyed making antennas and
coloring insects to go on the float. Students also had an awesome time participating in Spirit
Week. We loved seeing the students' creativity as they dressed up in the
different themes.
Did
you know that October is Anti-Bullying month? The theme is "You are not
alone-I can help!" Students have
been discussing this in class and making posters to hang up around the school.
Congratulations to Carrie W. in P7 and Andie N. in P8. Their posters were
picked to be entered into Tracy's Anti-Bullying contest. If you would like more
information about anti-bullying a great website is www.stopbullying.gov.
The
first Box Tops Contest has officially closed. The winning classroom will be
receive a treat. We will continue to collect box tops in class. Each box top in
worth 10¢ for our school.
Reminders:
The first day of Fall was
Sunday, September 22nd. The mornings are starting to get colder, be
sure to send your student with a jacket! Please put your child's name inside
the jacket.
Sapphire PCS
The Sapphire Team had a very “spirited” week!
We had so many students wearing spirit wear every day, it
was awesome!
Team Sapphire picked the student representatives for
leadership and they have had their first meeting already. The following
students are on Sapphire leadership team:
President: Crystal Conner
Vice-President: Sydney Skaggs
Secretary: Komal Khehra
Treasurer: Charles Hearn
Executive Officers
for room 6: Dominic Galang and Ella
Delucchi Executive Officers for
Room 1: Theodore Nguyen, Melanie Yanke and Nora Coutts. We all applaud their efforts and the
service that they are undertaking.
Thank you to all the
many parents who donated time and supplies to making our homecoming float a
success!!
Please make sure that you layer the clothing your child
wears each day to school, as our mornings are getting chilly.
Did you know that
Study club is every day of the week, except Wednesday; this is a great place
for your child to come and get homework completed with a teachers help.
PCS ART
This week in Art: The
K/1s finished their Crazy Bug designs and began an Apple project for
Fall. They learned how to trace templates, mix two primary colors to make a
secondary color, and to paint neatly. The 2/3’s learned how to draw Sunflowers
and some new shading techniques with crayon. The 4th grade
Multicultural Art classes began making Rainsticks from Peru. They are made from paper towel tubes
and toothpicks….lots of toothpicks!
DCS 5th/6th
There
was incredible creativity this week from students who came dressed for each of
our spirit week days. It is fun to see how children decide to interpret each
theme with personal flair and style.
SWO
(School Wide Outcomes):
This
week students discussed the meaning of cooperative collaboration. They
identified some group activities that require effective cooperation. Activities
like practicing an instrument to prepare for a group performance, passing the
baton during a relay race, sharing supplies with classmates, or performing a
role in a dance or play are great examples that can be used for the scrapbook.
Rodieck's
Roost:
It
has come to our attention that some students would benefit from an optional
lunchtime study hall. We are looking for parent volunteers interested in
supervising or tutoring students between 11:45 AM and 12:30 PM. Please contact
Ms. Rodieck if you are available and interested in helping us with this.
