This is a good time of year to remember to say thank you.  I would like to thank:
o   Our students for being excited and dedicated learners
o   Our staff in the office for interacting with hurt or ill children as well as all the other jobs they do all day.
o   Our teachers for their commitment to our students and the work they do to prepare for class each day.
o   You, our parents, who have chosen our schools for your child’s education and your commitment to help your child do his or her best.
o   Together we make an amazing learning environment for your children and for us, I believe I speak for the entire staff when I say, “We are very fortunate to have the jobs we have with your children.”
Thanks!

PCS Sapphire
The Sapphire Team had a wonderful week of learning!
It was a pleasure to meet with all the parents for conferences. Thank
you for taking the time out of your day to meet with us. Parent
teacher collaboration is so important for the success of the children!

P1 students had a wonderful week learning about Thanksgiving!  They made Thanksgiving place mats, learned about the pilgrims, talked about what they are thankful for, and had a delicious feast!

P6 students wrote about what they are thankful for and a” how to” on making a pumpkin pie. We also had Thanksgiving fun with assorted kinds of pies and a movie.

P5 has been working on the California webquest. Ask your
student what they are researching. We have completed our first novel.
The students have put together a booklet of all the work they have
done relating to the book. You will be receiving this shortly.

For the holiday season our student council will be sending cards to VA hospitals.  This is an excellent time for you to get rid of half empty boxes of unused cards that you may have around the house.  The students will be writing greetings in them and they will go to injured or ill military men and women. These need to be sent in by December 6th.   Help us make their Holidays brighter!!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!!!

PCS Gold
Golden Highlights:

We can't believe we have already finished one trimester of school! The year is flying by! We are so proud of all our students.
Our first Wacky Wallet Wednesday  was a huge success!  Thank you for coming out and supporting the school. Despite the rain the lines were out the door.

The canned food has been collected and taken to Tracy Interfaith. They were very appreciative of all the food that was collected by the classrooms. The winning classroom will be announced after the break.

PE has been looking for students that have been following the PE Motto Respect and Responsibility throughout the first trimester!  Some of these students  were acknowledged during Friday's unity and received a certificate.

Reminders:

November 25-29- No School! Have a wonderful break!

The weather is starting to get colder, be sure to send your student to school with a jacket! Jackets should be labeled with your students’ name.
·
Morning carline starts at 7:45. There are not teachers at morning carline until 7:45. Please do not drop your child off and leave before this time as they will be unsupervised. Also, students must be supervised after carline. Please do not let them shout or play in the tan bark in front of the administrative office and classrooms while learning is going on.

     PCS ART

This week the K/1’s finished making their Beady Octopuses. The 2/3’s worked on their Dancing Giraffes, and drew Turkeys.  4th grade finished their Tapa Cloth and painted Hawaiian Dancers.
As you are beginning your Holiday shopping, keep in mind that you can order all kinds of gift items through Artsonia, our online art gallery, featuring your child’s artwork.  Great for Grandparents! The quality is excellent, prices reasonable, and 20% of your purchase price comes back to the TLC Art program. If you need information on how to access Artsonia, please e-mail cwiltse@tracylc.net.

DCS 5th/6th
Parent/Teacher Conference:
First trimester student led parent-teacher conferences were held this week. It was an opportunity to reflect, discuss progress, and set goals with each child as an individual. Maximizing academic potential and success means something different for each student and we value the time you have given us to hear what students are striving for as they continue to challenge themselves to grow.

Report Cards:
Some of our DCS students received letter grade report cards for the first time in their academic history. They may not understand what a GPA is and how it is calculated. Still, GPA often defines their student record as they advance academically. Take the time to sit with your child to analyze the information on the report card. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above will be given a certificate of honor for their academic achievement.

Donations:
Cold weather runny noses have led to a depleted stock of classroom tissue boxes. If you would like to help us replenish our stock please send donations to your child's homeroom teacher. Students appreciate using the soft tissues you supplied at the start of the school year. Thank you for your generosity!

Gold:
Chaperones for the Academy of Sciences fieldtrip have been selected by lottery and were notified Tuesday. Parents who expressed an interest in chaperoning, but were not selected by lottery will remain on a contact list in case there is a change in availability for any of those who received notification.

Bring your pictures and scrapbooks for SWO Monday, December 2! We are currently working on two Personal Awareness pages. Students will be receiving participation grades for using this time productively.

PHSA 7th and 8th

In Science, students are bringing home all of their work from the first trimester of the school year.
This is a great time to replenish supplies (pencils, paper, erasers, etc.)

This week in Mr Mitri's class we wrapped up our unit on The Pearl and did some amazing group projects involving illustrations, music, and literature!

Geometry completed their unit on Congruent triangles and did fantastically on the test.  The average was 93.5%.
